Thank you to everyone who came out to the meeting Friday afternoon in the Loft – it was an excellent turn out and it was good to see so many students looking to get involved! The meeting gave a brief introduction of the history and existing status of the BRIDGE website and BRIDGE gallery for both current members and any interested newcomers. It was really exciting to hear all the new ideas people have for what the website and gallery could be. Looking to the near future, a big aspect of moving forward is our need for financial support as well as firming up the entity who will sign the lease, but many other important issues were also raised.
WEBSITE
The website has been up and running now for five months. This has given us the opportunity to look critically at some of the systems we are using to add content. Several new ideas about how students can contribute to the site were discussed. Also stressed was the importance of a communication system, to allow authors and editors to discuss ideas for posts etc. It was decided that this system should be coordinated with Bridge Meet and the Organization Team. New authors will be added to the site, and a list of proposed post topics should be added to the Bridge Meet site.
GALLERY
In order to make things happen in the Gallery funding first needs to be sourced. This will be done on multiple fronts. Within two weeks a Sponsorship Package will be prepared. A list of potential Grants is curently being compiled. The possibility of a Kickstarter campaign will also be explored for a potential launch in late June. Meanwhile a rough set of drawings detailing the preferred initial renovation of the existing space is being generated. Right now there needs to be a push to develop construction documents, specifications and a budget proposal to give to David Gibson ASAP.
ORGANIZATION
The three initiatives of the organization stream are to coordinate the website and gallery groups, to consolidate and streamline databases to clarify existing systems for internal communication and external resources, and monitor progress on all aspects of the project.
There are plenty of tasks to be completed and the more the work gets distributed the easier it will be for progress to be made! If you have any interest in joining in the festivities please email us at bridge@waterlooarchitecture.com
