After every academic term, undergraduate students depart from the Waterloo School of Architecture to begin another four or eight month co-op term. This gives students an opportunity to conduct semi-normal professional lives. The regularity of a 9-5 job and the absence of looming studio deadlines leaves students with time to pursue personal interests at the periphery and beyond the realm of architecture.
Leo Liu has returned to his previous employer, HLW, in New York City and is using it an an opportunity to develop his skills in videography. He says, “I took up photography as a hobby because it helps with visualization in the architecture profession as well as a good way to document my travels during co-op. I recently expanded the hobby to videography so I thought I’d document my time in New York City as a way of learning. I’m basically slowly self teaching myself how to make videos during my free time.”
Here is Part 1 of Leo Liu’s Co-op Film Series which documents his flight to New York City to begin his co-op term. Follow him on Youtube to see the rest of the series.
