September 28, 2018 Posted by Michelle Bullough Alumni Work, Event

Check out Passage at Nuit Blanche 2018 this weekend!

As a group of interdisciplinary artists, the members of smjilk, experience the city in diverse ways—whether through the lens of spatial design and urban planning, communications, health, or education. The group includes Waterloo Architecture alumna Sugandh Gupta. The way they navigate the environment is equally informed by their relationship with its people and their unique narratives. These interactions have been a source of inspiration to the team while thinking about the ways personal and public spheres intersect.

In building Passage, the team wants to transform a mundane, overlooked space into an intimate and immersive experience of sound, movement, and light. They invite the audience to reflect on the multiplicity of the city, its infinite possibilities, and the ways a city and its inhabitants challenge each other to change.
