Monday and Thursday are studio days. On these days in particular, the third floor undergraduate studio is filled with a frenetic energy of design, research, and exploration. Students can usually be found talking excitedly with design professors and classmates in a habitat saturated with trace sketches, study models, and empty coffee cups. Every week we’ll share a completed project, churned out from this energetic studio environment. Interested in having your work featured on our STUDENT WORK series?...
Cambridge Common: A Paradoxical Public Space is an exhibition of student work on display in the Cambridge City Hall atrium from May 31st – April 14th. The exhibition was designed and fabricated by Adrian Blackwell, Dan Jessel and Sarah Gunawan and features work by the 2A Design Studio course from the Fall of 2014
STUDENT WORK features Public Plane by Nicole Ratajczak which incorporates food programming as a method of improving health and well being in the Cambridge community.
STUDENT WORK features Felix Yang’s 2A Studio project entitled A Platform for Observation which uses public space as a tool to attain self-awareness.
Archi-TEXTS features Laura Di Fiore’s installation and essay entitled Theatres of Omosis which contrasts Medieval and Contemporary art and theater. Each form of expression asks the participant to investigate social ideals through a journey of thought. Through the exploration of three-dimensional space the observer is capable of obtaining heightened consciousness and elevated thinking.
Alexandra Kay-Siu’s 2A studio project entitled PLAY-HOUSE draws inspiration from the unencumbered interactions of children. Her design for a community centre attempts to bring the people of Cambridge together by allowing freedom of movement and enabling public self-organization
