They say that writing is easy – all you have to do is open a vein, and bleed. It is hoped that with every word we spill, we are one step closer to the authentic self. The spilled ink series encourages everyone to reflect, ponder, and share – to tell stories. With these pieces, we hope to explore the art of writing collectively with BRIDGE and the Waterloo Architecture community.
This creative piece is an excerpt from an art show performance. The poem was recited live in front of a projected image of the accompanying painting. Its goal was to marry traditional oil painting with visually suggestive poetry.
AQUAPHOBIA [i]
At four in the morning I tore through fog and I dove.
The sea, a jarring green and blood red brew,
Held cameo to a girl in breathless fauve
I watched her face fade to oblivion blue.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Bianca Weeko Martin is an eighteen-year old Toronto native whose passions lie in art and writing. Bianca does not believe that creativity is real but enjoys engaging in activities that would suggest that she does. She is currently a first year student at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture.
