As some may already know, the ADAPTIVE ARCHITECTURE 2013 ACADIA conference will be held at Waterloo Architecture in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada on October 24-27, 2013.  The event is going to bring together professionals from all over the world to discuss ideas related to computer aided design in Architecture.

A little background on ACADIA:

ACADIA is an international network of digital design researchers and professionals. ACADIA supports critical investigations into the role of computation in architecture, planning, and building science, encouraging innovation in design creativity, sustainability, and education. ADAPTIVE ARCHITECTURE will bring together the spectrum of research and creative practice currently occurring within the ACADIA community. The event is supported by the combined research networks of the University of Waterloo, the State University of New York at Buffalo, and the University of Nottingham working in partnership with The London Building Centre Trust.

ADAPTIVE ARCHITECTURE CONFERENCE

ADAPTIVE ARCHITECTURE will include a focus on computational design of environmentally responsive, intelligent, interactive, and reconfigurable architecture. Creators and researchers are encouraged to make submissions. A special program for student submissions has been created, accommodating student research and creation work at graduate and undergraduate levels.

The ACADIA team is excited to get as many Waterloo students involved in the conference as possible. There are will be opportunities to collaborate with student installation teams from several prestigious universities, interview leaders of tech innovation within the architectural design field, as well as involvement in publication preparation/graphic design and exhibition installation.

ACADIA is grateful already to the relationships that have been forged with student groups WASA, SWAG, F_RMlab and Waterloo Publishing Group (MOLE).

THESIS: Liminal Matter: Diffuse, Adaptive Environments for a Future Dundas Square

Jan 12, 2015

Connor O'Grady will defend his thesis entitled "Liminal Matter: Diffuse, Adaptive Environments for a Future Dundas Square" on Friday January 16th, 2015 at BRIDGE Pop-Up located at 60 Main St. The design explores the capacity for an embedded, public, and adaptive architectural system to expose the liminal, “invisible” relations that affect the collective environment.
