Greg Lynn will be speaking as part of the ACADIA conference at 3:45pm on Thursday October 24th. He is the recipient of the 2013 ACADIA Award of Teaching Excellence.

Greg Lynn has been a leader in the field of design with digital technology and a pioneer in the use of CNC machinery for the fabrication of complex functional and ergonomic form. His studio, Greg Lynn FORM, explores design at a variety of scales from buildings to installations, to furniture, to jewellery, always pushing the boundaries of advanced materials as well as the limits of design and fabrication technologies.
As a student, Greg Lynn attended Miami University of Ohio, recieving degrees in both architecture and philosophy. He later studied at Princeton University where he received a graduate degree in architecture. His combined background in philosophy and architecture has allowed him to merge the realities of design and construction with the speculative and theoretical possibilities inherent in writing and teaching. He has used his expertise to collaborate across many disciplines, working with companies like BMW, Swarovski, Alessi, Vitra, Disney and Imaginary Forces.
The work of Greg Lynn has has been widely recognized and celebrated. He won a Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale of Architecture, received the American Academy of Arts & Letters Architecture Award and was awarded a fellowship from United States Artists. He has taught at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich and the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. He currently teaches at UCLA’s school of Architecture and Urban Design where he is organizing the development of an experimental research robotics lab.
