nourish: South Central Sausage Food Truck

Nov 21, 2013 | Posted by Ella den Elzen | Uncategorized |

UWSA students are always looking for new good eats- especially cheap good eats. Well look no further than the new sausage truck parked in the Southworks parking lot. Well, it’s not actually a truck, more of a cart really.

Owner and sausage maker, Rob Marriott, tells me how he became uninspired and worn out at his job working with industrial hazardous materials. He quit his job and decided to follow his true love- making food from fresh, local ingredients. So at the beginning of this October he opened South Central Sausage where serves his own handmade sausages.

Options include ‘The West Coast’ (made with roasted garlic and red wine), ‘The German’ (with toasted coriander, cracked caraway and black pepper), ‘The Spaniard’ (chorizo style sausage with smoked paprika and chili) as well as your classic Italian sausage. Next week, he will be adding a ‘Bombay Chicken’ option to the menu for non-pork eaters.

Rob also makes most of the fresh condiments himself. Toppings range from Canadian Whiskey BBQ sauce to zucchini relish to caramelized onion and chili relish to red onion confit. By the way, there is no limit to how many toppings you can get- you may find yourself walking away struggling to keep your overburdened bun from falling apart in your hands.

South Central Sausage is open Tuesday – Saturday 11AM to 7:30 PM; Sundays 11AM to 6PM. The cart will be open all through winter.

A sausage with toppings is $5.50.
