STUDENT WORK / More Junk / 1B Studio

January 29, 2015 Posted by Julia Nakanishi Undergraduate Work, Work

Monday and Thursday are studio days. On these days in particular, the third floor undergraduate studio is filled with a frenetic energy of design, research, and exploration. Students can usually be found talking excitedly with design professors and classmates in a habitat saturated with trace sketches, study models, and empty coffee cups. Every week we’ll share a completed project, churned out from this energetic studio environment.

1B Studio | More Junk by Tony Kogan, Michelle Lin, Lauren Nayman and Felix Yang

Studio Instructors: Donald McKay, Robert Jan Van Pelt, Maya Przybylski

This collection of single family and multi-unit dwelling works to bring life to an underused parking lot in Cambridge, Ontario. We imagined the block as a park inhabited by unique characters: our dwellings, the existing buildings, and the residents. A minimal footprint allowed for vehicular access as well as pockets of landscaped area for the residents to enjoy.
