Future Schools was an event hosted by Bridge to give a group of local middle school students an introductory taste of the architecture school that resides in their town. Participating in drawing and model-making workshops, the students were encouraged to envision what they thought future schools might look like. Through events like this we connect with our local community, which is an essential part of Bridge’s core mission.
When (if) people think of bluegrass music, they usually picture rollicking banjos, twangy vocals, cheery tunes, and morbid lyrics. And, well, they’re not wrong. But this week, Samuel Ganton tries to show that us there is bluegrass music to fit any mood. That’s right: peaceful, moody, meditative bluegrass.
Walking downtown Galt, you may have noticed a sweet, new smell at the corner of Dickson and Ainslie. That aroma belongs to Steven Chaves’ new Portuguese donut shop, Malasada World. The Cambridge-born cook brings twenty-five years of culinary prowess to the kitchen, creating vovó’s classic malasadas, as well as offering modern twists with local, seasonal ingredients. Photo: Ien Boodan (https://www.flickr.com/photos/j4k0d15/) When a new business sets up shop in Downtown Galt, the students of UWSA are always among the first to feel the ripples. If that business includes anything related to “sushi”, it’s a whole other story. Hungry Ninja, a Japanese-inspired takeout spot near the corner of Main and Water St., opened just a couple of weeks ago and became an instant trending topic in studio. Ien and I decided to go sit down and have a talk with...
