Water_ On Exhibition is a collaboration between SWIGS (Students of the Water Institute Graduate Section) and the BRIDGE Centre of Architecture + Design. It aims to showcase the wide range of student projects in water research, while introducing BRIDGE to a larger university community. All UW students are welcomed to submit entries for inclusion in the show.
On June 1, the Balsillie School of International Affairs will host “Indigenous Visions of the Global Extinction Crisis”, an art exhibition and public event that grapples with indigenous and non-indigenous understandings of the global extinction crisis. They invite Indigenous artists and performers from the Waterloo region to submit their work for inclusion in this public event. They are considering all artistic formats, including (but not limited to): painting, sculpture, readings (stories, poems, etc), short films, song, dance and ceremony.
There is an exhibition happening tomorrow in the BRIDGE Centre for Architecture + Design showcasing spatial constructions of 20th century abstract paintings along with selected drawings from the current first year design studio class. PROCESS: Thesis in the Making exposes the unique process undertaken through the development of a thesis and provides insight into the Masters of Architecture program. It examines the intensive research, critical thinking and design process required to produce the final thesis document, exposing the exploration and learning which informs every thesis.
Textiles are omnipresent in our daily lives. Alum, Danielle Gignac, explored the ubiquity of textiles through her installation in the POP FOLK T3XT1L3S Exhibition currently on display at the Campbell House Museum in Toronto. The exhibition is free and open to the public until August 9th.
Cambridge Common: A Paradoxical Public Space is an exhibition of student work on display in the Cambridge City Hall atrium from May 31st – April 14th. The exhibition was designed and fabricated by Adrian Blackwell, Dan Jessel and Sarah Gunawan and features work by the 2A Design Studio course from the Fall of 2014
Vikkie Chen will defend her thesis entitled Curating Architecture on Thursday December 18th at 9AM in the BRIDGE Pop-Up located at 60 Main St in Cambridge. The thesis endeavours to give a contemporary and expanded view on the theory and practice of curation and architectural research.
