Reflecting on POSITION (Thank you GRFF!)

BRIDGE was super excited to screen 9 excellent short films in partnership with Grand River Film Festival. The films were selected by Poorna Patange, a student from Waterloo Architecture. Poorna worked with Tamara Louks from GRFF to organize today’s event, so here’s a shout out to them both!

 

Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the Grand River Film Festival has partnered with student-run Bridge Center for Design for an exhibition of film related works. Position, an exploration of what it means to be an architect through various media will combine the components of film and design.

Work Media: Installation, film, sculpture, painting

Must fit through a 36” x 84” door and be ready to hang or place in the space.Films should be on DVD or Bluray disks.

Requirements:

  1. Written description of the work.
  2. An image of the work, or link to film.
  3. Social media and/or website link (for promotional purposes).

Entry Deadline: July 31

Exhibition Date: October 28 and 29

Submissions will be collected and reviewed through submittable, follow the instructions at this link.

The films we saw today were an inspiration in the impact film can have in depicting the imagination of architecture and design They were a varied array of beautiful cinematography, relevant and pressing themes in architecture and the perfect mix of humour and depth. They inspired us to think about our own motives and creative directions as individuals interested in building the environment around us. Here is a quick recap of what we saw…
