Water_ On Exhibition is a collaboration between SWIGS (Students of the Water Institute Graduate Section) and the BRIDGE Centre of Architecture + Design. It aims to showcase the wide range of student projects in water research, while introducing BRIDGE to a larger university community. All UW students are welcomed to submit entries for inclusion in the show.
BRIDGE was super excited to screen 9 excellent short films in partnership with Grand River Film Festival. The films were selected by Poorna Patange, a student from Waterloo Architecture. Poorna worked with Tamara Louks from GRFF to organize today’s event, so here’s a shout out to them both!
Kyle’s thesis ‘States of Dependency’ is concerned with exploring architectures relationship to socio-political and ethnographic conflict within Jerusalem. Specifically, the work examines the districts of west and east Musrara, sites just to the north of the Old City, and reimagines the civic function of the no-mans land that runs between them. The project works to literally bridge the Israeli western half and the Palestinian eastern half of this area, and explores the educational and civic role that a truly public space may provide in this context. Kyle’s defence will take place on Friday January 15th, 2016 at 9 30 AM in ARC 2003.
