Are you involved in a creative project within the Waterloo School of Architecture, the Galt area, or broader design community? Share your ideas in the upcoming Pecha Kucha: Creative Projects this Saturday, July 26th! All projects are welcome, including, but not limited to, art projects, start-ups, community initiatives, master’s theses, Nuit Blanche installations, etc. Please send an email to chen.vikkie@gmail.com as soon as possible if you’re interested in presenting.

Pecha Kucha 20×20 is a format that encourages brief, concise, visual presentations that keep the audience engaged. Each presentation includes 20 images, displayed for 20 seconds each. The images advance automatically and presenters talk along to the images, accumulating into a 6 minute 40 second presentation.

Pecha Kucha: Creative Projects will be the restart of the Waterloo Region Chapter that will now be hosted by the University of Waterloo Graduate Student Association. This week’s event is organized by the Society of Waterloo Architecture Graduates and will take place in the Bridge Pop-Up space at 60 Main Street at the southwest corner of Main and Ainslie. Everyone is welcome to attend. Doors will open at 7pm and there will be a cash bar. It will also be the closing night of the Engi-Tecture: Eccentricity art show, your last opportunity to view the tremendous work of architecture, engineering, and urban planning students, faculty, and alumni.

Last fall, the Waterloo School of Architecture hosted Pecha Kucha: ACADIA in the BRIDGE Pop-Up space and it was a tremendous success. Presenters from around the world, here for the ACADIA Conference, introduced their ideas to the audience in the concise Pecha Kucha format. Those presentations are available to view on the Waterloo Architecture Youtube channel.
