Mathew Winter’s thesis, Variations on a Theme of Deep Time: From Geology to Architecture draws a comparison between geology and architecture, to create an architecture of simultaneity. Everyone is welcome to attend his defence on Friday August 21, 2015 at 10:30 AM in ARC 2026.
Jennifer Beggs’s thesis entitled “Healing through Architecture,” explores the relationship between environments and the chemical reactions in the body that enable healing. She focused specifically on how architecture can have a positive impact on patients receiving chemotherapy. Jennifer will defend her these on Tuesday August 4, 2015 at 4:30 PM in ARC 1001.
Textiles are omnipresent in our daily lives. Alum, Danielle Gignac, explored the ubiquity of textiles through her installation in the POP FOLK T3XT1L3S Exhibition currently on display at the Campbell House Museum in Toronto. The exhibition is free and open to the public until August 9th.

All things, all bodies, are equal.” Karine Quigley will defend her thesis entitled Vibratory Lines on Tuesday August 4, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the ARC Loft Gallery.
Nashin Mahtani’s thesis entitled “Pulsing Territories, Perpetual Frontiers” proposes an alternate form of tourism development for Bali, Indonesia that works cyclically, leveraging seasonal activities over time, rather than one that sprawls outward consuming the islands finite resources. Everyone is welcome to attend her thesis defence on Thursday July 30, 2015 at 2:30 PM in ARC 2003.
Once again, The Stops Night Market has been a great success and like years past, Waterloo Architecture students and alumni have stepped up by designing and fabricating food carts and installations to support this great cause.
Alumni Geoff Christou and his team at Our Paper Life have developed “Room in a Box,” a simple, easy to ship and assemble, set of cardboard furniture for the transient Waterloo Architecture student.
Unexpected creative collaborations often occur beyond the studio walls of the Waterloo School of Architecture. Several fourth year students recently came together to direct, film and perform “Twelve” from Lia Tramontini’s debut album.
During You@Waterloo day we welcomed a group of unique and energetic designers into the Waterloo Architecture family. Now we would like to introduce the Class of 2020 to the BRIDGE Community. Look out for them this fall!
