Questioning the Canon: Lunchtime Conversations

March 10, 2018 Posted by Michelle Bullough Event, galt., Initiatives, Treaty Lands, Global Stories

In conjunction with Waterloo Architecture’s 50th Anniversary lecture series and exhibition, several student initiatives are hosting a lunchtime conversation series at the Design at Riverside gallery.

Following the theme of Questioning the Canon, this conversation series invites alumni and guests to address the overarching question: In a world of unprecedented possibilities and unforeseen brutalities, what can architectural education do?

The series is structured around the school’s six areas of architectural pedagogy — design studio, cultural history & theory, environment & technology, visual & digital media, landscape & urbanism, and practice in education. The conversations are being hosted by BRIDGE, galt.publication, and Treaty Lands, Global Stories.

All conversations will be held at the Design at Riverside gallery beginning at 12:30pm.

BRIDGE was super excited to screen 9 excellent short films in partnership with Grand River Film Festival. The films were selected by Poorna Patange, a student from Waterloo Architecture. Poorna worked with Tamara Louks from GRFF to organize today's event, so here's a shout out to them both!
