The Master Works Exhibition provides recent graduates of the UW Masters of Architecture program the opportunity to exhibit their work solo or in a group and takes their thesis beyond a book to explore it as a larger exhibition. The opening reception for the exhibition will be on Monday, Oct 3rd at 6:30pm at the Design at Riverside Gallery.

Water_ On Exhibition is a collaboration between SWIGS (Students of the Water Institute Graduate Section) and the BRIDGE Centre of Architecture + Design. It aims to showcase the wide range of student projects in water research, while introducing BRIDGE to a larger university community. All UW students are welcomed to submit entries for inclusion in the show.

In his thesis, Pawel Bednarek uses Toronto as a subject to develop an anarchist spatial practice that challenges architecture’s complicity in the face of society’s authoritarian and hierarchical structures. He will defend his thesis titled ‘Arguments in the Streets Became More Frequent’ on Wednesday September 14th at 11:30am at the BRIDGE Centre for Architecture+Design.

Amanda Ghantous will be defending her thesis titled “Three Minutes to Midnight” on Wednesday September 7th at 12:30pm at the BRIDGE Centre for Architecture+Design. Her thesis is an exploration of the disconnection between the idealistic presentation of the world as depicted by utopian-fueled architecture and the everyday reality of human behaviour.

The Grand River Film Festival has partnered with student-run Bridge Centre for Architecture + Design to curate an exhibition of film related works in: POSITION, an exploration of what it means to be an architect through various medias. This is a Call for Submissions for POSITION, accepting works till September 2nd. The event will take place on October 28th & 29th.
